Bio of Professional Angler Stephen Johnston

1970		Born; Port Arthur, Texas.
1970-1986		Learned the sport of fishing from his father while camp on Toledo Bend Reser and along the Angelina River in East Texas, as well as Sabine Lake and the Gulf Coast marshes along the South East Texas coast.
1986-1988		Competitively fished local bass club tournaments.
1988		Graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School; Port Arthur, Texas.
1989-1990		Attended Lamar University; Beaumont, Texas.
1989		Began professionally guiding duck hunts along the South East Texas Coast.
1990		Began professionally guiding fishing trips on Toledo Bend Reservoir and Lake Sam Rayburn in East Texas.
1990-1996		Competitively fished in various local and regional bass tournaments.
1996		Established “Johnston’s Guide Service” and began booking all trips from a home-based location on Toledo Bend; continued to work closely with various marinas for booking trips and client entertainment.
1996-Present		Participate in various Outdoor, Sport, and Boat Shows to promote corporate sponsors and Johnston’s Guide Service through booth displays and seminars.
1996-Present		Participate with various media outlets to promote corporate sponsors and Johnston’s Guide Service. Television show tapings on the lake, published articles and columns, contributor to misc. newspaper/radio agencies for lake/fishing reports.
1996-Present		Participate at retailer open house events to promote corporate sponsors and Johnston’s Guide Service. Work with various corporate sponsors to test and promote products to an ever growing list of guide clients, tournament fans, and the general public.
1997-Present		Became affiliated with Ranger Boats and Mercury Marine/Motor Guide as a member of their Pro Staffs. Known and respected as the ‘Ranger Pro’ in East Texas.
1998-2007		Continued to competitively fish in regional and national events, including the BFL Cowboy Division, Everstart Series Central Division, Anglers Choice East Texas Team, Bass N Bucks East Texas Team, Bass Champs Team, Texas Tournament Trail, Stren Series, and the Oberto Redfish Cup.
2007		Named FLW Stren Series-Texas Division Angler of the Year
2008		Named as an Associate Rep for Ranger Boats working with South Central Sales & Associates. Competitively fished in the Stren Series-Texas Division, FLW Tour, and regional team events.
Present		Known and respected as one of the Top Professional Anglers and competitors on the bass circuits and Top Licensed Guide on East Texas lakes Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend.
Present		Participates as Pro Staff for Ranger Boats, Mercury Marine, Motor Guide, Sebile USA, Falcon Lures, Power Tackle Rods, Pflueger Reels, Costa Del Mar, Navionics, and Lowrance.
